Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN), 25 October - 02 November 2025

Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) was discovered on 11 September 2025 through examination of images from the SWAN (Solar Wind ANisotropies) instrument aboard the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) spacecraft.

Two members of OASI, Paul Whiting, FRAS and Nigel Evans, reported observations.

Nigel Evans, East Ipswich, 02 November

The night was moonlit and C/2025 R2 was only approximately 30° distant from the Moon. It was fainter than C/2025 A6, also visible during the evening. The tail is positioned at the 10 o'clock position but is not easily visible in the image.
