Albireo, 25 September 2014

The star Albireo (β Cygni) is a beautiful double, with components widely separated (34 arcseconds) and thus easily accessible to small telescopes. I captured the following image of the star on 25 September 2014 using a Skywatcher 200P Newtonian with 2x Barlow and Canon 30D camera. Note the vivid colour contrast between the components: observers describe them variously as gold/golden yellow and topaz/blue.
