Comet C/2006 M4 (Swan),
02 November 2006
My first image of Comet C/2006 M4 (Swan), taken from Newbourne, near Ipswich. Sixty second exposure on 02 November 2006, at 18.48 UT, using a MX916 CCD on a 160 mm F/2.6 Schmidt camera. Circumstances were far from ideal: the image was taken two days before full moon and the comet was in the sky above the orange glow of Ipswich, so all things considered it’s not bad! A very faint, narrow, but far from straight ion tail stretches from the head of the comet (large blob bottom left) up towards the right hand top corner in this negative image.
