Message From Paul Whiting, FRAS On Election As Chairman, January 2018

It is customary for a new Chairman to pen a few words on taking over the role. This time is a little different as I have assumed the role for the limited duration of one year. However, even though I may be termed a caretaker Chairman, I do still have an agenda, albeit short term, that I would like to advance. I aim to achieve the following:

A resumption of observatory open weekends at Orwell Park School.
A cost effective means of keeping a telescope permanently at Newbourne Village Hall – whether that be a container or some other secure option.
Maintaining the quality of our outreach programme to ensure that both our members and the general public maximise their enjoyment and understanding of astronomy.

I would like to thank my predecessor, David Murton, for re-defining OASI's outreach programme over the last four years.
